I post videos of songs played at gigs I go to. Retirement from playing music for decades at people as a DJ means I've got time now to annoy others with my own tastes.

Paul Quin played guitar with Saxon from 1975 until he retired from touring last year. Uriah Heep were formed in 1969, 55 years ago. Yet they were bottom of the bill before Saxon and Judas Priest. However I doubt that bothers original member Mick Box. To be out there still rocking is what he cares about. This track comes from their Demons and Wizards LP from 1972. It was a shame their set was cut to 35 minutes to allow more time for the two other bands - but that's show-business....

At the time of writing Judy is 84 and has a career spanning seven decades. She came to Leeds City Varieties and performed a wonderful set I had a front row seat for on 10th October 2023. From my private collection. She sang this alone and held the end note absoutely perfectly. What a trouper.

On 1/1/24 Leeds had previously lost twice on the road and needed a win against Wayne Rooney's Birmingham to keep their promotion chances alive. They got it. 3-0. Rooney was sacked the following morning.

Recorded in Great Yarmouth on Fri 10th November 2023. He and his band were amazing. When you're 78 that is remarkable. Kiss fans should kneel down at the feet of a master. Hats off to a fabulous songwriter, singer and musician who aged 78 can still deliver a masterclass with a band who were tight and on great form. 10/10.

Recorded on Saturday 11th November 2024 at the Prog X11 Festival, Vauxhall Caravan Park in Norfolk, UK. Quite why these Dutch tunesmiths were second on the bill to Tangerine Dream escapes me as the latter were beset with tech issues and frankly not a patch on these masters of the gendre still at the top of their game. But what do I know.

This is Spirit Of Smokie performing at St Georges Hall in Bradford on what would have been Alan Barton's 70th Birthday. His son Dean is the frontman and has put together a remarkable band of musicians and singers to honour his dad. I remember listening to this on the radio whilst being a lift down the M6 in the mid 70s.

'Winning machine ...' hardly. They won two league titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup and two Fairs Cups. Compare that to the Celtic side of time in the late sixties and seventies, or the Liverpool sides of the 1970s and 1980s. No comparison with trophies.
Check your facts Peter. They got called dirty Leeds in press releases after the battle of Goodison in 1964. They were no more or less dirty than any other team at that time, but not being from the south of England, the press persisted and the name stuck. Nothing to do with how they played the game.
They were known as dirty Leeds because they were dirty.
